Product Description
This McKerrihan 16″ is for those who want a gigging, workingman’s electric archtop guitar with all the attributes of a carved top but without the feedback. This extraordinary instrument combines an aged solid blue spruce master grade tap tuned and carved top with beautiful figured maple sides and back. The guitar features deluxe bindings and purflings throughout, ebony bridge and tailpiece , pickguard and headstock front and back lamination and ebony fingerboard.
What sets this guitar apart from the myriad of other designs that attempt to curb feedback on an archtop is that although the guitar is completely hollow with no internal block, there are no holes cut into the top. This practically eliminates feedback at almost any volume while retaining a surprisingly loud acoustic volume and vibrating top and back. This guitar was built in 2001 by master luthier Glen McKerrihan of Phoenix Arizona (www.mckerrihanguitars.com) and if newly commissioned would cost over $8,500 today, but this one can be yours for approximately 1/2 of that. This guitar measures 16” X 3” deep and features a 1 3/4” bone nut width and 25” scale. It is fitted with a Gibson mounted PAF Humbucker and sounds great plugged in.
Although it is in excellent overall condition, with only minor normal wear and slight impressions on the back, there are a few weather lacquer checks This is in the lacquer only and does not go through to the wood..
Deluxe TKL case included.
