Welcome to Newtone Strings. The home of British Handwound Musical Instrument strings.

Here at Newtone Strings we make High Quality instrument strings for the majority of steel strung instruments. All our knowledge is available for you to be able to get the 'Perfect' set of strings for you and your instrument.

The first thing is that Newtone strings are all individually handmade. This means that every string passes through the hands of up to three people, who make a physical and visual check at every stage of production. If a fault occurs or if the string is not up to standard on our machines, it gets cut in half and discarded. However, our scrap rate is extremely low. The major reason in terms of why our strings may feel or play differently to those from other companies lies with our use of round core wire in all our Acoustic guitar strings and some of the Electric ranges available.

A Double wrap of Phosphor Bronze over a Round core gives these strings a unique feel and sound. They are warm and mellow without the string squeal of single wrap strings.

ACOUSTIC GUITAR STRINGS: MASTER CLASS ELECTRO-ACOUSTIC

Newtone Guitar Strings Master Class Electro-Acoustic
These Electro Acoustic strings feature a Nickel wound 3rd, whilst the rest of the wound strings are Phosphor Bronze with all being on Round Cores. The advantage of having a Nickel wound 3rd is the improved toal transition from the Phosphor Bronze to the plain 2nd and 1st strings when strumed. Whilst the Nickel is brighter than Phosphor bronze, it is less so than the plain strings. There for there is a gradual increase in brightness, rather than a jump from the wound to plain strings.
