Product Description
- This is the Real Deal! Hand built Manhattan by Bob Benedetto – a1990 Benedetto Manhattan Custom in near-mint condition, complete with the original hardshell case and signed by master luthier Robert Benedetto in Savannah, Georgia, Bob Benedetto is the most highly celebrated contemporary archtop luthier in the same fashion as John D’Angelico and Jimmy D’Aquisto,. This Manhattan was handcrafted by Bob himself in the style of the great Jimmy D’Aquisto. Bob’ guitars are lighter than the D’Angelico’s, and as light weight and resonant as the D’Aquisto”s with great clarity. The gloss Blonde finish highlights the extremely tight, three-dimensional and lively figuring in the flamed maple back and sides, with beautification\ul sinking on the tight grain spruce. Exceedingly well-kept for over three decades, there are just one faint mark by the cutaway. The gloss finish on the neck, top back and sides is almost flawless with the exception of the one time mark by the cutaway. Original frets in excellent condition.
Tonewoods include a hand-carved, book matched spruce top, tap tuned and hand-graduated with notably tight, straight grain. The carved flamed maple back and rims are intensely figured, and the one-piece flame maple neck is capped by a bound ebony fingerboard. This Manhattan yields exquisite detail, with an exceptional dynamic feel; smooth, balanced response. The ebony fingerboard provides articulation, providing warm trebles and the wound strings have a rich chop and airy warmth. The Benedetto floating pickup has its own highly vaunted tonal color, responsive to player inputs. This Manhattan weighs 5lbs 13oz
