This all-original cutaway Super 400C features solid carved-wood construction with a carved spruce top and carved maple back and solid maple sides, and upon its introduction was the largest guitar that Gibson had produced.

This particular Super 400C was owned by professional guitarist Vinnie Corrao & used on many popular recordings throughout the 20th century.

Well played & in very good to excellent condition for it’s age & usage. Frets are in good condition. Neck is straight & in excellent playable condition.

There are a handful of dings throughout the body but nothing that affects playability or value.

There are a couple of felt buffers added underneath the pickup rings to eliminate any buzzing from the pickups.

Original Gibson “Patent Number” humbuckers & controls.

The pickguard is well-warped but intact with no breaks or binding separation.

Includes handwritten notes from Vinnie Corrao himself on the history of the guitar & the recordings on which it was used.

This guitar neck is very comfortable, the action can be set very low, and with great  acoustic tone to cut through the big bands of the time.
The hardware is all original and in very good condition.

Guitar History:
Vinny Correo purchased this super 400 from mascara Music in Belleville in 1964. He had originally ordered a Johnny Smith but it never came in. Vinny performed with only this  Super 400 for many years. 
January 1965 he received a call from Jack McDuff to join him in Seattle Washington as George Benson was leaving the band of course he took his new super 400 here are some of the recordings and gigs that Vinny played with the super 400
Jack McDuff recording on the Cadet labeled called “check this out” 
 1970-1971 recordings in Sweden with Monica Zetterland recordings with Jack McDuff in Berkeley  California jazz club, 
then Montreal Canada at a jazz club with Jack MUDuff
Vinnie Played his Super 400  Guitar  with The Four Seasons from 1967 to 1969 
Christmas time Vinny got a call from Sam Brown  to accompany Ella Fitzgerald with Tommy Flanagan on the Johnny Carson TV show.
Then following that he did the Dick Cabot show with Ella and Tommy and  following in a big band at the Americana hotel on eighth Avenue in New York City. with Ella and Tommy
He also use this guitar to record with Willis “gator tail” Jackson on the cadet label and  also with pianist Les McCann on the limelight label released in 1965 called Bauex J Poo-boo.
Two more  albums with Freddie Roach on the prestige label “Moca motion” in
1967 and the Fred roach Soul beat in 1966 again in 1966.
IN 1966 Vinny  recorded with Eric Kloss called “Love and all that Jazz” and then with Don Patterson album calling “Soul Happening” on the Prestige label in 1966 again this guitar was used with Willis skater tail Jackson on a cadet label called smoking with Willis released in 1966. Now back w with Jack McDuff in Seattle Washington “Ain’t no Sunshine”  recorded in 1972 and re released in 2024.  Vinny also recorded with Dela Griff in 1998 on the tune the very thought of you on the servant label again really recorded with David Brahm in 2009 on the album called to be free and random act
Sunny Stitt, Booker Erwin,  Don Patterson all played on “Soul People” Vinny played on “There will never be another you”
