Product Description
The L-50 model was introduced by Gibson in 1946, and remained in production until 1971. It has the same scale 24 3/4” length and body size as the L-4 and the ES-175 models. Easy to hold and fun to play, the L-48 neck allows for faster soloing, and more accurate chording of stretch voicings.
It is built using a 16 inch wide arched Mahogany laminate back and arched solid Spruce top, braced with parallel tone bars and bound top and back. The solid top give this archtop great clarity and note separation.
The neck is Mahogany with a bound Rosewood fingerboard which provides a nice warmth. The headstock bears a Gibson decal and replacement Kluson-style Deluxe strip tuners.
Great guitar! Wonderful tone, punchy but articulate for single notes and chord work is full and strong. Jazz, swing, roots and blues jump out of this guitar.
Neck is very comfortable and a great body size. This L-48 has all its original frets.
There are a handful of dings & scratches present on the guitar. Nothing structural that would affect playability or durability. Playwear consistent with a well-loved vintage guitar.
